PostLake vs Outstand

The Outstand alternative
you can start free.

Outstand is a capable API for agents and a direct competitor. Two things separate us: you can begin on PostLake without paying, and you can decide exactly what each agent is allowed to do once it is running.

Why developers & agents pick PostLake

Start free, pay for what you post

A free tier with 20 credits, no card. Then usage-based credits, one per post (X costs more, since X is the only network that charges us). Low-volume projects pay a fraction of a flat monthly seat.

Agent-first, not agent-also

A hosted MCP server built for agents, idempotency keys so a retrying agent never double-posts, and one normalised response an agent can reason over. Built for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and any MCP client.

Managed keys, no app setup

PostLake manages every platform connection for you, X included. No developer apps to register, no per-platform review queues to babysit. Connect an account and post.

One response for every network

Publish to many accounts in one call and get back a single normalised shape, one post id and a per-target result, so you never branch your code per platform.

Where Outstand is the better fit

We'd rather be honest than oversell. Outstand is the better choice when:

A worked pricing example

The difference shows up before you have traffic. One asks you to pay before you have posted anything; the other does not.

If you already know your volume, compare included posts directly. If you do not yet, starting free is worth more than a slightly better rate you are not using. Verify current pricing on both sites. (Verify current figures on Outstand's pricing page before relying on them, July 2026.)

Switching from Outstand

Both speak the same shapes, so this is usually quick:

  1. Create a free PostLake account and connect your social accounts. No developer apps to register, since platform keys are managed for you.
  2. Point your integration at PostLake. Use the REST API with a Bearer key, or connect your AI agent to the hosted MCP server over OAuth.
  3. Map the response. PostLake returns one normalised shape, a post id plus a per-target result, so most integrations need only light changes.

Common questions

Does Outstand have a free tier?

Not at the time of writing. Their entry plan is paid. PostLake has a free tier that needs no card and includes full API and MCP access.

Is a bigger MCP tool count better?

Not on its own. What matters is whether the tools answer in a shape an agent can act on, and whether an error tells it how to fix itself. Count is easy to grow and easy to misread.

Which networks differ?

Outstand lists Vimeo and Google Business, which PostLake does not carry.
