A credit is what you spend to publish a post. One post to any of the 8 free platforms costs 1 credit. A post to X costs 5 credits (55 if it contains a link), because X is the only platform that charges per post. A multi-platform post spends credits for each platform it goes to. You're only charged for posts that actually publish — failed sends are free.
Monthly plan credits refresh at the start of each billing cycle and don't roll over. Credits you buy as a one-off pack never expire, so they're always there as a backup. When you post, your monthly credits are spent first.
